Christkindlmarkts (Christ Child Markets) are street markets held in Germany and Austria in the Advent season preceeding Christmas.
Items you’ll find at a Christkindlmarkt include all sorts of Christmas decorations, handmade wooden toys and crafts and traditional German Christmas delicacies including lebkuchenherzen, the gingerbread hearts.
At St. Benedict, we decided to get a head start on the Christmas shopping season by holding a Christkindlmarkt in conjunction with our popular Oktoberfest.
